VIAP Awards announced

 The Visual Information Awards Program is designed to recognize, reward, and promote excellence among military photographers, videographers, journalists and graphic artists for their achievements in furthering the objectives of military photography, videography, and graphic arts as a command information and documentation media within the military. This program operates under the aegis of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and is administered by the Commandant of the Defense Information School, with cooperation from national and local professional organizations.

Marine Corps Heritage Foundation accepting submissions

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is now accepting submissions for its annual awards program. Each year, the Foundation presents a series of awards to both Marines and civilian community members, recognizing their exemplary work in advancing and preserving Marine Corps history. Submissions deadline is February 28, 2011.

Awards will be presented at the Foundation’s annual ceremony in April. The Foundation is accepting award submissions for categories in historical scholarship, journalism and letters and arts, a total of 15 awards. A new award announced this year is the Major Megan McClung Award, for a distinguished example of reporting by an individual covering U.S. Marines abroad.
