The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is now accepting submissions for its annual awards program. Each year, the Foundation presents a series of awards to both Marines and civilian community members, recognizing their exemplary work in advancing and preserving Marine Corps history. Submissions deadline is February 28, 2011.

Awards will be presented at the Foundation’s annual ceremony in April. The Foundation is accepting award submissions for categories in historical scholarship, journalism and letters and arts, a total of 15 awards. A new award announced this year is the Major Megan McClung Award, for a distinguished example of reporting by an individual covering U.S. Marines abroad.

“Our annual awards ceremony has become an anticipated event as it continues our tradition of showcasing leadership and excellence in the civilian and Marine communities,” said LtGen Ron Christmas, president and CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. “The awards allow us to highlight extraordinary Marines and civilians who preserve and propagate the history, traditions and culture of the Marine Corps. I encourage individuals to nominate their own work, or the distinguished works of others.”
