O’Brien: Oldest living CC passes

Marine Cyril J. O’Brien cheered when he watched the American flag being raised over Japanese soil in 1945. He wasn’t atop Mt. Suribachi but he was close, watching from the invasion beach and coming ashore on Iwo Jima as a combat correspondent with the 3rd Marine Division.

McCann: Former NY chapter president Hank McCann dies

Henry “Hank” McCann, 82, Massapequa, NY died November 14 following a lengthy illness. Prior to his death Hank was the long-time President of the New York Chapter and was very active in the Association for many years. He was interred in the National Cemetery in Calverton, NY

Marth: CC Life member, motion picture and still photographer Rudy Marth passes

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of CC Life member Rudy Marth on January 9 in Woodbridge, VA. Marth, both a motion picture and still photographer in the Marine Corps, was a retired Gunnery Sergeant who later became a film editor and worked for Capitol Films.
