Post-1975 Military Documents Sought

Published by kvstark on

The Archive of Modern American Warfare at Texas Tech University is asking for donations from military veterans. The Archive is particularly interested in collecting digital material such as emails, blogs and other personal websites, text and instant messages, word processing documents, oral histories, digital photographs, digital videos, and digital audio recordings. These materials are of vital importance because digital materials are more susceptible to deterioration over time than are paper records, yet both are equally valuable for the historical information they contain. These materials will be made accessible for researchers in an online portal that is currently under construction. The Archive also collects traditional archival material, such as correspondence and artifacts.

If you are a military veteran and you are interested in donating your material to the Archive, please contact archivist Andrew Hinton at 806-834-5971 or amaw@ttu.edu. You can also visit the Archive in person at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas or online at www.amaw.ttu.edu for more information.

The Archive of Modern American Warfare at Texas Tech University collects and preserves records that document America’s involvement in military actions after 1975, such as Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operations Provide Relief and Restore Hope, the Kosovo War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, the Archive encompasses issues regarding the personal experiences of American servicemen and women, national security, diplomacy, military and government intelligence, homeland defense, and the development of new military technologies and their impact on operations.
