Maj. Gen. Robert Neller, the director of Marine Corps University, speaks with Chuck Jenks, deputy director of the Quantico Public Affairs Office, and Charlie Grow, deputy director of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, at the grand opening of the Operation Just Cause exhibit at the museum on May 4.

The exhibit features photos by Jenks, a retired Marine combat correspondent who followed Delta Co. 2nd Light Armored Recon during the invasion of Panama in December 1989. Neller, formerly in command of the Marine Corps Security Force Company during Operation Just Cause, spoke about his memories of the time. “I was impressed by how our Marines took control,” said Neller, addressing the veterans in the crowd. “Not for a minute do I think that we shouldn’t have been there. Panamanian people were very thankful for our help. We should be proud we had a hand in bringing liberty to those people.” (Photo by Lance Cpl. Jahn R. Kuiper}
