DO NOT MISS the next JOE ROSENTHAL SPEAKER SERIES, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 12:00 PST, when LtGen Mike Rocco, USMC (Ret.), President & CEO of Marines’ Memorial, will speak on Iwo Jima and Marine Jack Lucas, the book Neptune’s Inferno, and the Marines’ Memorial and its road recovering from COVID.

Lt. Gen. Rocco retired from 37+ years of active duty in the Marine Corps on 1 October 2020. A month later he assumed command of the Marines Memorial Club in San Francisco as its CEO and President.

Lt. Gen. Rocco graduated from St. John’s University in New York and was commissioned as a Marine 2nd Lt. in May 1983. Three years later he was designated a Naval Aviator. He deployed to Saudi Arabia in August 1990 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Then-Captain Rocco was assigned as a flight leader and led over 20 combat missions.

In the course of his active duty he received two Master’s degrees and commanded at every level of aviation: Squadron, Group and Wing, flying nearly 4,000 hours in various types of aircraft. He served multiple tours at home and in the Mid-East, Far East and Europe.

Lt. Gen. Rocco’s awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal with Gold Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross with “V”, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with “V”, Air Medal with Numeral 2, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Gold Star.
