Family looking for WWII correspondent

Terry Lydell writes: I am looking for some help in locating some WWll correspondents or their files or family.

Our family is trying to find the remains of our uncle who went MIA November 29, 1943 in Bougainville Solomon Islands. He was a Marine Corps Paratrooper with Company B, 1st Parachute Battalion, 1st Parachute Regiment. He was involved in the Koiari Raid along with the Raider Battalion November 28-29, 1943 while the Marines were securing a base at Cape Torokina.

We need any stories or notes that will help us narrow down to what may have happened to our uncle and where he may have been located during the Raid.

Are there repositories where correspondents keep their notes? Are they kept in their personal possession?
Some correspondents who we believe were in the Koiari Raid are Murrey Marder and a photographer Dave Ohman and Cyril O’Brien. Any way to get hold of them or family or find their writings?

Our uncle is PFC Patrick John Kirby. Any help you can give us is much appreciated.

If you have any information, please contact Terry Lydell, 1552 148th Avenue NW, Andover, MN 55304-3459.
