Things to do: A great free landmark is the “National Salute To Bob Hope and the Military” located near the Port of San Diego.

The stunning exhibit features bronze statues of Hope entertaining 15 figures representing all branches of the military in a shaded area immediately across the water from the USS Midway.

Equally stunning in an adjacent area is the giant-sized figures of a sailor and a nurse kissing in Times Square celebrating the end of World War II.

Also nearby is plenty of free parking and  a very nice and reasonable seafood restaurant.
