Wynkoop earns his bars

NASHVILLE — U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association member Robert Wynkoop is pinned by his grandfather John H. Wynkoop in a ceremony at Vanderbilt University, May 14. Wynkoop received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant through the Meritorious Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP).

Wynkoop is a past merit award winner to include the 2002 Outstanding New Writer and the 2004 Broadcast Journalist of the Year. He attended Vanderbilt University where he received the Gladys McPartland Scholarship as well as the USMCCCA Foundation scholarship. Wynkoop received his Bachelor’s in Communication and hopes to be selected to return to the Public Affairs Occupational field upon completion of The Basic School. He is currently in training with Echo Company at TBS and will graduate December 10, 2010.
